Perry County Wellness 2010

Perry County Wellness 2010 is a non-profit county based organization aimed at
creating a healthier and happier life for any and all citizens of Perry County, IN.
Our goal is to educate, inform, and support individuals wishing to create a
healthier life for themselves, friends, or loved ones.

Through the help of the United Way of Perry County, Perry County Memorial
Hospital, Home Mutual, and First State Bank, we will create a series of community
outings designed to help people interested in becoming healthier this year. Here
are a few examples of ideas that are already in the works:

* Community Kick-Off Celebration (March 12th): created to help our community
get started in the right direction with walking, running, aeorobics, or any other
form of healthier living.

* William Tell Elementary Running Club: during the final 2 months of school,
students in grades 3-5 will be invited to join a group that will partake in running
varying distances. These groups will be led by the Tell City High School Track and
Field teams and will aim to promote an active lifestyle for young children.

* Elementary Triathlon: While still in the developing stages, this event is planned
for sometime in May. Consisting of running, biking, and swimming, the triathlon
will consist of distances that any student can cover.

* Adult Walking/Running Groups: Starting in early June, we are planning to
create weekly meetings for local runners and walkers. These meetings will have
groups with leaders who will help citizens walk/run at many different paces. The
goal for these meetings is to help individuals train and prepare with the
Schweizer Fest 2 and 6 mile road run as the end goal.
